The Underage Youth League

Our community underage youth league brings together the marginalized slum communities of Kariobangi, Korogocho, Babadogo, Eastleigh, Dandora, Huruma, Mathare and close neighbourhoods.

The league is played in six categories: U-16, U-14 and U-11 for both boys and girls, under the banner “Scoring For Safer Neighbourhood” in promotion of peace through capacity building, social inclusion and leadership training. So far, over 7000 youths have been reached the leagues’ inception in 2012.

The Academy

Under the sports program, we run the Clevers Football Academy for Boys & Girls, which nurtures the best talent from our under-age youth league.

The Academy boasts of 150 young players between the ages of 11 and 20.

For the past 9 years, the Academy’s senior team has gone on to qualify to play in the regional league organized by the nation’s football body, Football Kenya Federation with various players making it to the national league, thus sustaining their livelihoods.

Education

We run the under-age league program in partnership with the local primary schools within the community. Through this we encourage schools to join the league as a way of promoting school enrollment and attendance, and encouraging girls participation in increasing girls inclusivity in sports.

Life Skills

We use the league to impart life and leadership skills to teenagers and youths. We train and let them take on leadership roles in the areas of game officiating, coaching and first aid provision in our league. We also intergrate social lessons on HIV/AIDs and peacebuilding in the football training sessions.
